The way I figure it, this coming event is the Baseball International Series and will one day be so recognized.
Webster's pondering portrays a classic in this fashion: 1: a literary work of ancient Greece or Rome 2a: a work of enduring excellence; also: its author b:an authoritative source 3: a typical or perfect example 4: a traditional event(a football classic)
I'm sorry folks but by all established standards this World competition does not as of now rate being recognized nor reported with such a title at this time. Maybe in time, yes.
The next reported schedule for this world baseball competition is for the year 2009. There will be much wide spread anticipation of this next forthcoming event.
Worldwide this Baseball International Series will garner competition at a level of unprecedented hoopla and fanfare.
Competitive nature of the society of each competing nation or region of the world will rise to a level unparalleded in the annals of the sport of baseball. Rule regulations and spirit of fair play will be a closely watched and talked about subject.
I am only trying to point out the misnomer of calling it a Classic. We certainly hope this will become the event to which we will attach greatness just as we have done with the American Baseball World Series.

The genesis of Baseball International Series was born with The Baseball Classic and should be called the Baseball International Series while initially naming it as a Classic is mislabeling of the Series of games.
Baseball Classic is a lesson in How To Win the future world class competition may transcend and replace the uniquely American generated Baseball World Series.
The future will possibly become and recognized as the Baseball International Series. If that change happens then our baseball major league rules and our major league basebll diamond rules will require some modifications to accept international accepted rules.
The name World Baseball Classic to my way of thinking is a misnomer and will one day be known as the Baseball International Series.
