Playing with the Enemy

by Tammy Hall
(Sacramento, CA)

A book written by a son about his father, "Playing with the Enemy" by Gary W. Moore, is one of the best baseball books I have ever read. Gene Moore misses out on an opportunity to play major league baseball because of WWII. The events that unfold during his military service are truly amazing and poignant. This is an unforgettable book about family, lost dreams, and baseball.

I find it hard to beleive
by: Anonymous

I find the whole story hard to beleive, if this kid were some hotshot minor league baseball player--he should have some stats to back it up---because baseball has nothing but stats. I know baseball history fairly well and can't say I recognize any players or managers mentioned in the book. this story should be classified as a novel as most of this is made or at least site your souces from whom you received the information from. All you will need to do is go to the local phone book in Mr. Moore's area and you'll find some of the ballplayers names there. Sorry, I not a fan of Mr. Moore's writing this story and saying this was his fathers story.

Best Baseball Book
by: Anonymous

The best overall baseball / journey of life story I have ever read. My sons read it, my wife read it, and they loved it to. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
